Sunday Service Recap 9/30/2012
This past Sunday at Evanston Bible Fellowship was the second sermon in our new series, “Proverbs.” Over the next year, EBF will be hearing a combination of topical and exegetical sermons from the book of Proverbs, all designed to help us see and savor Jesus Christ. This most recent Sunday was a fantastic sermon on Wisdom, begging us to ask the question, “Is It Wise?” in our everyday lives.
This service included an interview with Sam and Clare Sung (members of EBF and active participants in Ethos Communities and the Worship Team). Sam is a second-year student at the Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University, and he encouraged other Kellogg students who attend EBF to get plugged in to good community, and to be a light to their school. We also had a time for people to greet one another, and a chance after the service for Undergraduate students to get free cookies and more information about our church.
The worship team this week included Acoustic & Bass Guitar, Piano, Synth Keyboard (running through an M-Audio Pre and Mainstage), Drumset, Flute, and French Horn. Our two keyboardists and drummer joined me on vocals, and we led the church in five songs during the service:
Forever Reign – Hillsong
How Deep the Father’s Love for Us – Stuart Townend
White As Snow – Jon Foreman
Like An Avalanche – Hillsong United
Never Once – Matt Redman, with an EBF arrangement that added “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” during the bridge
